1997, San Diego, California. I was
finishing
up what was left to complete a 2-year associate's degree at Mesa
Community College in business administration. I never did well in
school, and I never really seemed to care either. I guess I was, or
am the dreamer, always thinking up new and wildly creative
ways to
try and make money. I
never new there were other people just like me
out there. I didn't even own a computer or cell phone at that time.
I was bussing tables at the famous Georges
at The
Cove restaurant in La Jolla. I mean I was like 20 years old. Loved that
spicy shrimp fettuccini Alfredo! Anyway care free and on my own I could
get into all kinds of trouble. Just to name a few, (sorry if any of you
are currently involved in any of these) Nutrition for Life with Kevin
Trudeau, Am Way, water-filters (door to door, uh) are you starting to
get the point here? I was destined for this business opportunity review
thing.
Eventually, for a wile at least I had given
up the
search. I had moved back to New York and was immediately thrust into a
wonderful and exciting career selling copiers.
It didn't take me long though to find the
tool
that I had always been missing, the World Wide Web. I now had a free
pass back to my search for some serious home based business
opportunities and I could do it a lot easier and faster than I ever had
in the past.
I used the computer at my job to get online
when
no one was around. Back then the sales guys normally had no access to
the internet at there desks. On my desk I had a phone, 5 shoe boxes
full of business cards stapled to 3X5 index cards with the notes from
all my cold calling adventures and a couple of upright file racks to
hold the hot deals I was forecasting for that month.
One problem, I had the internet but who do I
choose to work with out of thousands of choices online? Right away I
got sucked into the wrong programs by slick sales material, a lot of
motivational; you can do it, dream building jargon that never led you
any where.
I think the first one I really got involved
with was Don Lapre. I had everything set up;
1-900 #s for a sports hot-line tiny
classified ads
in multiple newspapers across the county. I really studied that thing
inside and out! Looking back I think it probably did work well, at
least for Don, but still, there was no way to contact him directly for
a little coaching. Believe me I tried.
Next stop, United Imaging, LLC was
born about 5 or 6 years later. I quit my job to take
on
selling Konica Minolta & HP office equipment and supplies.
Finally,
I thought, a real legitimate business venture that no one could poke
fun at me for, and it was and quite honestly, still is. After all, I
had always done very well selling copiers and now it was time to do it
for myself!
I still love building the copier business
and I work hard at it every day.
My new goal was this. Start another real
business,
online this time, kind of an opportunity seekers haven
and offer
it to the rest of the people that shared in this crazy interest of
mine.
I have found some really great opportunities
online that are just waiting to be put to work. Most of the programs
that I recommend I do use myself, so at least you can have that
confidence while browsing. And oh yea, I am not Don Lapre, you can call
me any time you want. If I don't have the answer to something I am sure
my rolodex full of great contacts in internet marketing and
business related opportunities does.
I hope you can choose something that excites
you and go for it!
